Great London Record Shops #1
Do you know those recipes where they say, “store in a cool, dark place”?
Well… On The Beat records in Hanway Street is one of the coolest, dark places we know. Dingy? If so, then we mean it as a compliment.
One long, thin room, plastered with posters and mag covers, this record shop deals in almost every genre.
Vinyl is the order of the day – with memorabilia from all eras on sale, too. All second hand, all fairly priced, On The Beat is a hidden gem.
In terms of location, it is rather hidden in plain view – off the beat-en track, if you will – but still right in the heart of the West End. Hanway Street is a small cut-through that links Tottenham Court Road with Oxford Street.
And while you are in Hanway Street you can also check out Bradley’s Spanish Bar and its excellent vinyl jukebox.
