Dulwich Hamlet’s Edgar
Kail was the last amateur footballer to play for England at full international
level, turning out against France, Belgium and Spain in 1929. His international
career lasted for six days, the duration of England’s European tour. He scored
in excess of 400 goals for Dulwich Hamlet, and remained loyal to them
throughout his entire career, even turning down a glamorous move to professional
pastures with Arsenal.
