The Last Hour: The D.C's Ashes Blog From Lord's 16:07:13

Summertime in England… and football has been nudged aside to allow Cricket to take centre stage. The most important fixture on the calendar of our national summer sport is The Ashes, the contest between England and Australia

The Second Test Match takes places at Lord’s in north London this week. To mark the occasion, The Last Hour will dredge up a cricketing fact of the day every night this week.

We’ll be back again in the week of the 19th August when the 5th Test takes place at The Oval in south London.

(The Nightly London Photoblog will return next week)

Lord’s is currently in its third incarnation. The original stood where we now find modern day Dorset Square, with the second ground being moved by the development of the Regent’s Canal. Lord’s Mk.III as we know and love it today dates back to 1813

A London Walk costs £9 – £7 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
