The London Nightly Photoblog 30:04:13

This week, the Nightly London Photoblog at The Daily Constitutional looks through some rock'n'roll windows in the week that The Rock'n'Roll Pub Walk launches…

We’ve been walking and blogging all day, and there’s time for just one last look at London before lights out.

Maybe you saw tonight’s pictured location on one of today’s London Walks. Perhaps it’s your shot, sent to us at the usual email address.

Of course some London Walks guides will still be out there, Londoning away into the small hours. For them, we borrow a famous London phrase… Goodnight, and good luck.

A close-up of the window from last night's pic. It's Macari's famous Side Window on the Charing Cross Road where all the best guitars are kept. Support your Rock'n'Roll London guide tomorrow night, he wants to buy one!

The Great London Songs No. 28: The London Boys

We've asked our London Walkers and London Walks guides to nominate their favourite London songs… and the playlist is proving to be wide-ranging and eclectic indeed.

From punk to jazz, with a little music hall thrown in along the way, we'll be collating them all here on The Daily Constitutional over the next few weeks in the run-up to the launch of our new Rock'n'Roll London Pub Walk every Wednesday from 1st May 2013.

As usual, we want to hear from you. What are your favourite London songs? Anything goes, from a tune mentioning a London location, to a piece of music composed here, if it has a strong London connection or theme, we'll add it to the list. Email us at the usual address, message us on Twitter @londonwalks or leave a comment below…

Adam, who leads tomorrow’s debut Rock’n’Roll London Pub Walk digs back in Bowie’s 60s past…

Much neglected, sometimes derided, often disowned by the man himself, David Bowie’s 60s roots are given a full re appraisal at the V&A’s wonderful David Bowie Is… exhibition. This is the masterpiece of his pre-Space Oddity years…

The Rock'n'Roll London Pub Walk launches on Wednesday 1st May 2013. The Rock'n'Roll London Walk (without pubs!) goes every Friday at 2.00pm. Both walks meet at Tottenham Court Road Station (Exit 3). You can keep up with the Rock'n'Roll London Walk on FacebookTwitter and at www.rocknrolllondon.com.

“Where the bloody hell is Ray Davies’s knighthood? Come on Cameron, GET IT SORTED!”

And here’s just one reason why…

We were always looking forward to LW Guide Ed Glinert’s answer. And he didn’t disappoint, providing us with a fireworks display of tunes. Here they are…

Raucous folk of the Irish diaspora in Dark Streets of London by The Pogues…

Some reflective ska from north London’s finest, One Better Day by Madness…

Legend has it that this Beatles classic was inspired by a chance encounter that Fab Macca had on Primrose Hill…

This 60s Stones classic namechecks St John’s Wood, Knightsbridge and Stepney. Play With Fire…

And Prog (Thanks Ed!) makes its debut on our list with this one from Genesis…

And we wind up in the exotic East with those Darlings of the Wapping Wharf Launderette, the Small Faces and Itchycoo Park, the perfect London riposte to the San Franciscan summer of love…

Thanks Ed!

We couldn’t close our list without this one…

… Gerry Rafferty’s classic from 1978. Rafferty stayed in a friend’s flat just off Baker Street and wrote the song while enduring the legal wrangles that are so often part of the fallout of a band split – in this case the band was Stealer’s Wheel. the famous sax break was played by Raphael Ravenscroft, who later played session on Duffy’s debut album, from which we plucked Warwick Avenue earlier in our series. Click here for that one

In the meantime, here’s Baker Street…
