Friday is Rock'n'Roll London Day

Happy Birthday Sir George Martin, born on this day in 1926. Rooting around in our vinyl collection here at The D.C, we dug out this…

Perhaps we could say, "Here's one I prepared earlier." The Beyond the Fringe album was recorded under the supervision of George Martin in the West End's Fortune Theatre in 1961. The famous gold-lettered Parlophone label is in evidence and it provides a window on the pre-Beatles career of Sir George, as a producer of now legendary comedy, from this bunch here (Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett and Jonathan Miller) to Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan.

Happy Birthday Sir George Martin!
