Just before we swap our walking boots for our slippers, here’s one final thought…
Spare a thought for our walking chums in New York City: they ain't got no snow boots…
The New York Times reported the other day that stocks of snow boots in the city were running low.
Never ones to believe what they read in the papers, The New York Observer hit the shops to find out for themselves. And, horror of horrors, they could find only Uggs.
(I can feel my sciatic nerve twinge at the very mention.)
The Observer reported:
'We called three New York Ugg locations. Wouldn’t you know it, the first two were so busy they did not answer the phone. The third, however, broke our spirits by telling us the popular classic UGG “isn’t waterproof.”
Then a ray of hope. “There is one that is popular and waterproof. The Adirondack.”
Followed by crushing defeat. “That one is totally depleted of sizes. We don’t know when we are getting more. There has been a much bigger demand than we expected.”'
Good luck, New York. We know the value of a good walking shoe here at The Daily Constitutional. We're sending the vibes.
