The Best Museums in #London No.9: The Museum of Brands @MuseumofBrands

We've canvassed the London Walks guides, asking them to nominate their desert island museum and we'll be posting their responses throughout the month.

As usual, you are more than welcome to join in! Get in touch via Facebook, or Twitter or via the usual email address.

Karen writes…

"We’ve all said it: 'Oh, I always meant to go to such-and-such-a-place but never quite got around to it.'

For me it was the Museum of Brands. And how delighted I am to be able to say 'was'.

I finally visited last week and was met with not only a vividly colourful, but also a lovingly detailed history of our consumer society stretching back to the 1890’s.

Founder Robert Opie has amassed a collection numbering nearly 12,000 items – amongst which I can guarantee that everyone will find their own advertising Madeleine moment. Informative and lots of fun."

Karen

Karen comes trailing clouds of glory. Travel & Leisure crowned her "the world's greatest tour guide." She hosts the Canadian television travel show "London Next Stop."  She won the London Tourist Board's Guide of the Year award. She's the author of Royal London. She is, quite simply, a star turn – which is why she's the "go to" London guide for every major media concern. A reformed actress and occasional journalist, she was Independent Magazine's Cultural Heritage Correspondent. Her gold standard walks are, needless to say, vivid and entertaining. So: "World's greatest tour guide", CBC star, Guide of the Year – no way she wasn't going to front the flagship London Walks film!
