Au Revoir From The Nightly #London Photoblog 30:06:15. Bloody Pigeons!

Last one!

The London Nightly Photoblog takes one last look at London at the end of each walking & blogging day.

Each week night throughout June we posted a London picture by way of saying "Nitey-nite and thanks!" to all of our London Walkers and Daily Constitutionalists.

That's it for the moment. We'll be back with The London Nightly Photoblog in October 2015.

Bloody pigeons don't got no respect for nothing!

#Wimbledon Fact of the Day 30:06:15

Any colour you like as long as it’s white…

The white lines on the Wimbledon courts are not marked in paint but a liquid compound containing china clay. Around 500 gallons of the stuff is used at every tournament.

Fly Through The Air With The Greatest Of Ease, It's #London Walks Mary On The Trapeze!

We get the occasional comment from our London Walkers regarding the details in the London Walks guide biogs.

Surely, they seem to say, you add some of the details just to make them SOUND exotic.

Here, for example, is Mary's biog – pay attention to the bit in bold…

Mary

Mary ("Poppins") is "practically perfect." A classically trained dancer and an actress (West End credits include Gone With the Wind, a long stint at the Royal National Theatre and Noises Off), she's also a trapeze artiste, a professionally qualified, award-winning Blue Badge and City of London Guide and the boss. She is one of those English roses upon whom it is unsafe to try any oompus-boompus.

And here's the evidence…

What you don't get from the picture is that she's actually GUIDING the view from up there while swinging.

My Favourite #London Street… Villiers Street

What's your favourite street in London? LW Guide Shaughan writes…

Gordon's Wine Bar

My favourite street is Villiers St  - just full of life, people, paper sellers, beggars, drunks, all classes and walks of life and one of the oldest wine bars and the best florist in London.

Shaughan

Shaughan is a distinguished - and stylish - actor (his stage roles range from Frank-n-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show to Sherlock Holmes; his many television credits include Poirot and Miss Marple). A professionally qualified Blue Badge and City of London Guide and the possessor of a fine baritone voice, he usually spices his walks with a song or two.
