Beatles v Stones! A Playlist Ahead of Tomorrow's #Beatles & #RollingStones London Walks

Adam writes…

As the Rock'n'Roll London Pub Walk calls time over in Soho, here's a playlist for tomorrow's Rolling Stones London Walk with Richard Porter leading.

10 tracks, five each by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Your task is simple: decide who's best on the evidence provided!

Tracks one and two see both bands tackle the Lennon & McCartney number I Wanna Be Your Man. On tracks three and four the bands duke it out on Barrett Strong's Money.

Tracks five and six comprise the Chuck Berry Round: The Stones take a tilt at Carol with The Fabs romping through Rock'n'Roll Music. I've chosen those particular tracks as I believe them to be each band's best studio version of a Chuck Berry number – I'd even stick my neck out and say that both bands go some way to improve the originals (you can fight with me on that matter on Friday's Rock'n'Roll London Walk!)

Tracks seven and eight take a look at the great and vastly underrated Arthur Alexander – Jagger and Lennon croon You Better Move On and Anna respectively.

Last round is The Great Sitar Battle – which, for me, conures up a fantastic image of Brian Jones and George Harrison taking great swings at each other with that hefty Indian instrument. In that context my money would be on the low-and-difficult-to-topple Jones over the slender Scouser. But in terms of music, who wins? Is it Paint it Black or Norwegian Wood?

Here's the playlist…
