Commemorating Bedford College, Bedford Square WC1

University College was the first university in London and the first in England to be founded along secular lines. It was also the first to admit women. The first college specifically for women was established nearby at Bedford Square. Bedford College was founded in 1849 and became part of the University of London in 1900.

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
