#plaque366 Nicholas Saunders

A London commemorative plaque for every day in 2016.

The plaques are selected from all walks of life, and all points of the London compass – and I'm taking requests too!

Nicholas Saunders is held to be the founding father of "aternative Covent Garden". When the fruit and veg market moved away, Saunders moved into a warehouse in Neal's Yard and opened a (then rare) wholefood shop. Today Neal's Yard is the go to destination for wholefoods and herbal remedies in the West End.

Saunders
also researched, wrote and designed the cover for Alternative London (first published in 1970) a guide with tips for those who wanted to live "off grid" in the capital…

His plaque can be found in Neal's Yard…

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
