Friday is Rock'n'Roll #London Day… The Former Cat Stevens is 70 Today

Friday is Rock'n'Roll London Day! Join the Rock'n'Roll London walk this (and every Friday) afternoon at 2:00p.m meeting at Tottenham Court Road Station

Adam writes…

Born on this Day in 1947… Yusuf Islam, the former Cat Stevens.

Stevens was born in London and raised above his parents' restaurant, the Moulin Rouge in New Oxford Street and schooled at the Macklin Street R.C Primary School.

Stevens became a huge solo star in the 70s, but, like David Bowie, his apprenticeship was served in the 60s. His 1967 album New Masters…

… remains one of my favourite 60s records.

You can listen to New Masters here…

This afternoon's walk is dedicated to Cat Stevens.

And here's the trailer for THIS AFTERNOON'S Rock'n'Roll London Walk which meets at 2pm Tottenham Court Road station (exit 1).

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
